The EWI RPPX-32x8DM series Splitter Reel snake is a 32 channel XLR send snake with 8 XLR returns on a reel.  The returns on the reel are paralleled MXLR and 1/4" TRS. This snake is an excellent choice for portable applications where a separate split is needed for monitors or recording.  You only roll out as much cable as you need and leave the rest on the drum.

The 16 channel monitor splits (sold separately) are equipped with EDAC 516-56 pin multi-pin disconnects at the drum. ( Click Here For Monitor Split Options )   The first EDAC connector on the drum is paralleled to channels 1-16 and the second is paralleled to channels 17-32.  The 16 channel monitor splits are available with channels labeled 1-16 and 17-32.  The monitor splits are available in lengths of 15, 20, 30, and 40 feet and are color coded in groups of four.

The fantail is all EWI ES3FB-GDP (FXLR) and ES3MB-GDP (MXLR) black shell with gold contact point connectors with the Caps of the Returns color coded Red for easy identification. We have various lengths of MXLR to ¼" TRS adaptor cables available if your drive rack requires ¼" TRS connections for the sends, and if you need a little more length on the send channels to reach the drive rack.

The reel and drum are medium duty and well labeled.  The fantail is heavy duty, color coded to groups and very well labeled with indelible ink.  The main trunk is constructed with EWI SMC cable which is 40 individual shielded pairs, 22 ga., high copper purity conductors with double aluminum foil shield and trace wire, which is heavy duty and very flexible.  There is a mesh grip strain relief at the fantail which will allow the fantail to be supported and take the strain off panel jacks.

There are 4 ea. 2 1/2" casters mounted on the bottom of the reel frame for transportation.  Two of the four casters have locking brakes on them.  The casters are a good size for in-doors use; however, they are a little on the small side for rolling across grass or a gravel parking lot.

The snake is shipped with the casters not assembled on the frame.  This reduces the chances of the casters or frame being damaged in shipping.  Mounting the casters on the frame is facilitated by using a 19MM (or 3/4") and 17MM (or 11/16") end wrenches.  Many folks mount the reel snake in a pull over flight case.  Typically I have various cases in stock that are well suited for this.

There is a brake mechanism on the drum to set it in place once you'll reeled out enough cable.  It's a friction brake, so it doesn't lock the drum down hard which is a plus if somebody starts tugging on the cable unaware that the brake is set.  There are two brake indents where the brake can be set to lock the drum down solid.

This is a quality built snake suitable for professional applications.  It even comes with a nifty blue bag to protect the fantail when not in use.
